A 1,000-watt high powered electrical bulb emits light seen for 20+ nautical miles. Originally, a kerosene Incandescent Oil Vapor (I.O.V.) lamp was installed. The Fresnel lens is Seguin’s shinning jewel of the sea.

Because of the steep quarter-mile climb up to the lighthouse, a tramway system was installed in 1895. It is Maine's last working tramway!
