About the Friends of Seguin Island Light Station - 1986
Since the summer of 1986, The Friends of Seguin Island Light Station have had volunteer keepers on the 64 Acre Island to welcome guests, maintain and improve buildings and trails as well as keep the Coast Guard posted on any problems with light equipment. Over the years many firsts have been achieved - we now have 5 hiking trails, a gift store, a museum, library of logs and lighthouse related books and keepers quarters. The sites of two previous buildings have been located and marked and we continue to locate more during the summer of 2013. We now have weekly work parties and a cadre of past lighthouse keepers who keep the island open though Columbus Day. It is well worth the trip out to the island most summer and many fall days. Welcome aboard!
