FOSI is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, assisted by Committees composed of volunteers. The 2009-2010 Friends of Seguin Island Board of Directors are as follows: Dee Perry President We are supported primarily by Memberships, Donations and Gift Shop sales. The Seguin Island Light Station is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Friends of Seguin Island is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1987 by Anne W. Public Annual Meeting, Barbeque and Auctions: Local Merchants and Seguin Supporters come together in our biggest fundraising event that is open to the public. The Annual Meeting is with Friends of Seguin updates and elections, presentation from the Island Caretakers, Silent Auction, and Live Auction of merchandise and services donated by local merchants and supporters. A Barbeque serving Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and abundant homemade potluck cuisine. Tickets purchased for the Barbeque are used in the Door Prize Drawings. Friends of Seguin Island Annual Membership Meeting/ Auctions/Barbecue is held the third Saturday in July (location to be announced) Island Work Parties: Throughout the summer, the On-Island Committee sponsors volunteer "work days" on Saturdays or "work weekends" on Seguin for those willing to donate their time and labor. Tasks are usually painting, painting, painting, and cutting grass. Please bring your own food and water. Rain dates are usually scheduled for the following day. Georgetown citizens and Flatlanders assemble to educate, display, sell, "chew the fat," and promote Handmade Maine merchandise. Homemade food, local entertainment, and good company are all available in Georgetown, Maine, at the Georgetown Working League Fair. And don't forget, the winner of the Annual Handmade Georgetown Quilt is chosen at this event. (Event time: 10 AM to 2 PM) Contact: Keeper@seguinisland.org or call (207) 443-4808. Presentations: With help from our volunteers, we publicize "The Seguin Island Lighthouse Station" to Schools, Libraries, Museums, Events, and Other Organizations with various types of educational media. Volunteers are needed to Present or assist the Presenter, develop and handout information packets, and assist in setup and takedown of displays.
